RF Projects

1. RF planning

RF planning is very crucial for mobile network design. For any mature network more than 80% of the investment will be on BTS sites, so cell planning should be done so consciously, accurately that each site should give good return.

  • 2G 3G nominal cell planning for coverage and capacity

  • IBS planning for indoor coverage

  • Frequency/PSC planning to enhance spectral efficiency

  • Engineering parameters planning

1.1. Site Survey and Acquisition

Base on nominal planning joint site survey (JSS) will be conducted including RF engineer, Transmission engineer and civil engineer. JSS team will take three candidate co-ordinates as per customer requirement. These candidates will be submitted to customer. During survey JSS team will do one way site acquisition with owner of these three candidates. Customer will confirm one best candidate out of three candidates proposed. Technical site survey report will be prepared on confirmed candidate from the customer. Once TSSR is approved, final site acquisition process will be started on approved TSSR.

2. Radio Network Optimization

Radio network optimization is to improve network performance and maximize the benefit of the existing network resources. For optimization parameter collection, data analysis, parameter adjustment, will be done with the help of technical means. Network optimization aims to provide better network experience for their subscribers, maximize network resources and reduces the operational cost.

After network optimization, subscribers will get satisfactory telecommunication services in terms network stability, speech quality, and throughput. Therefore, the major task of radio network optimization is to seek a balance among coverage and quality based on rational investment, resulting the best rate of return.

In the live network each site should have its own pre-defined coverage area. If coverage is beyond its coverage area network quality could degraded so Network optimization is required to improve Network Quality, and Capacity.

Optimization works can be divided into two part; logical optimization and physical optimization.

2.1. Physical network optimization

Physical optimization is mainly base on physical site location, its panoramic view and drive test analysis report to confine each site coverage area. Before changing any physical parameter, neighboring site information should also be taken into consideration.

In this method Network Physical parameter changes will be recommended such E/M tilt, azimuths and RF height.During RF optimization below following changes will be recommended in the network which will result well-confined coverage of each cell.

  • Antenna tilt

  • Antenna change

  • Antenna azimuth change

  • Antenna location on the roof or mast

  • Power reduction/increment (Trx/ Pilot)

  • Switch off sectors

2.2. Logical network optimization

Once physical optimization is done, logical optimization will start to improve network quality and user experience. Logical optimization mainly includes

  • NBR addition/deletion during new site integration/ carrier addition/ NBR optimization

  • External NBR addition/deletion during new site integration/ carrier addition/ NBR optimization and its script preparation

  • 2G 3G NBR defining

  • Frequency /PSC optimization and its script preparation

  • TRX addition/deletion and its script preparation

  • E-tilt optimization and its script preparation

  • Transmit Power optimization and its script preparation

  • Handover parameters optimization and its script preparation

  • BSC/RNC parameters optimization recommendation and its script preparation
